At Farmaprojects, wellbeing is the foundation to design our working experience. As part of our journey towards developing our very own Wellbeing Policy, over this past year we kickstarted several initiatives which tackle both physical and emotional factors of wellbeing. Let’s dive into them!
Yes to physical wellbeing: Mens sana in corpore sano
The first pillar for a successful working day is keeping your body fit. Even short activities every day can help us. Over the course of this year, we organized 2 workshops focused on physical wellbeing. Our team was coached by Ignasi de la Rosa, a physiotherapist specialized in sports with extensive experience in treating and preventing musculoskeletal injuries.
In the first workshop we learned how to exercise the cervical and lumbar regions, which are by far the two most common pains in people with an office job. In our second workshop we were coached on how to identify correct and incorrect postures and practiced short and easy mini workouts to integrate more movement into our everyday life at the office.
Additionally, this year our internal group of Ambassadors created Farmaprojects’ first official Running Club. Once a week, during lunchtime, we take a break and go for a run around the city of Barcelona, with the option to change at the office in our brand-new showers. Taking some time to stop during the day is the best way to keep moving forward!
Yes to emotional wellbeing: The power of a balanced mental health
The second crucial pillar for a successful working day is keeping your brain fit. With that goal in mind, we organized our first workshop on Emotional Wellbeing, led by Minerva Castillo Clua, a coach and trainer in soft skills, mindfulness and wellbeing. We gained a deeper understanding of the emotions; we explored how thoughts directly affect our mental and physical health and how to cultivate a positive emotional environment. We applied different techniques like reviewing our internal dialogue, mindfulness or practicing breath awareness to train the ability to reduce interruptions.
Farmaprojects has its own internal Burnout Policy, which is guided by our leadership team. Our heads have a crucial role in detecting and preventing burnout among their teams, and as part of this commitment, this year we organized a Burnout Prevention & Management session, in collaboration with AlwaysPeopleFirst. Our team learned how to recognize the signs of burnout and how to establish a detection and case management model, ranging from stress-reduction techniques to good habits. Our coach equipped us with tools and insights to identify, prevent and manage burnout among our colleagues.
These initiatives mark the beginning of our long-term commitment to creating the best working experience for our team, which starts with promoting wellbeing at all levels. We will keep building a culture based on open communication about mental health, where everyone is heard and feels respected. Wellbeing is not only the driver of success for our team, but also the starting point for a healthier and happier life. Wellbeing is the bedrock to achieve your goals: Yes You Health!
